Brotherhood”. The game was released for the Xbox in November 2010, and will be released for the PC in early 2011.
The story picks up immediately after the ending of the second game. After escaping from the modern day Templars, Desmond and other assassins set up a secret base in Villa Auditore. Desmond enters the Animus, and continues Ezio’s story. This time, Ezio faces Cesare Borgia, the son of Rodrigo Borgia (who was the main antagonist in Assassin’s creed 2), who is intent on finding the Pieces of Eden and destroying the Assassins. Subject 16 (Desmond’s precursor) also makes an appearance in the game. Based on Ezio’s memories, the Assassins must now find the remaining Pieces of Eden and stop the Templars from achieving their goal of world dominion.
The gameplay is very much similar to that of Assassin’s creed 2. The player can blend into crowds, pickpocket or eavesdrop to find information and money, and run freely on the rooftops of Italy. Combat uses many weapons such as Ezio’s hidden blades, swords, maces and daggers. A new feature is the “Brotherhood Assist”. Ezio can now recruit villagers and citizens to his cause, and they can be used to assist in combat and missions. Their appearance, weaponry, and armour can also be customised.
The game sold more than 1 million copies in the first week of its release, becoming one of the fastest selling video games of Ubisoft. Ubisoft also released “Project Animus 1.0” as downloadable content in December 2010. It was one of the leading games on the digital download charts when 2010 ended.
