“Hot Pursuit” is yet another fine addition to Electronic Arts’ famous “Need for Speed” series. The game has been developed by Criterion Games – the game studio that gave us “Burnout Paradise”. Hot Pursuit feels like a fusion of both “Need for Speed” and Burnout, taking racing video games to a brand new level. It was released for multiple platforms in November 2010. In December 2010, the game was released for sale via digital download.
“Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit” is set in Seacrest Country – a fictional city having an open environment and long roads and freeways, which make it a true racer’s paradise. The player can begin the story by choosing from either the Police or the Racers; each having its own storyline and characters. Both opposing factions have access to mean and powerful 4-wheel machines such as Porsche, Alfa Romeo, BMW and McLaren. Also, each side has certain powers such as EMP Strikes and Roadblocks which can be used when required.
EA has released both free and paid updates to the game. The free downloadable update fixed in-game bugs and glitches, and also added new cars. The paid update also adds new cars, as well as new game events and challenges. Hot Pursuit has received applaud from critics, and has been awarded high scores by critics, as well as the “Best Racing Game” and “The Best Driving Game” awards.
