Name:The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition
Genre:Role Playing
Platform:PC

The fourth and latest title in “The Elder Scrolls” series, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was launched in March 2006. It is one of the most successful RPGs till date, with a total of 1.6 million copies being sold in the first month of its release itself. It has won numerous “Game of the year” and “RPG of the year” awards. Oblivion is available for purchase via Digital Download on the game’s official website www.elderscrolls.com, as well as many steam download websites.

Taking place in the continent of Tamriel, Oblivion takes the player on a journey through a land full of magic and mystical creatures. After the heirs to the throne are murdered, the king vows to track down their killer and execute him. On his way, he loses his way in an underground tunnel and is ambushed and killed by an assassin. With his dying breath, he entrusts the player with an ancient artefact, “The Amulet of Kings”. The king’s death, however, opens the portals to a mystical world known as Oblivion, and the once peaceful realm is now invaded by a horde of monsters and nightmarish creatures. The player must now undertake a journey to close all the gates to Oblivion and protect his land from this scourge.

Oblivion is a Role Playing Game, and the gameplay is unique in many ways. In the “Open ended quest system”, the player may abandon the main quest, and focus his attention entirely upon side quests or explore the world without affecting the storyline. At the beginning of the game, the player can select the gender, race and appearance of his or her character, and as the game progresses (after accumulating experience) the player can improve the character’s skills, as well as add bonuses to attributes and powers.

Oblivion has received very positive ratings from gamers as well as critics, and has been praised for its open ended quest system and engrossing gameplay. The fifth instalment in the Elder Scrolls series “Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” is set for release in late 2011.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition includes Knights of the Nine and the Shivering Isles expansions.
