“Medal of Honour” is the twelfth instalment in Electronic Arts’ internationally acclaimed Medal of Honour series. It was released in October 2010 for the PC.

The game is set in 2002, following United States’ battle against terrorism in Afghanistan. For most of the game, players control “Rabbit”, a US army operative. Several side characters are also controlled in certain missions.
CIA operatives have reported that Al-Qaeda and Taliban have amassed a huge force in the Shahi-Kot valley. US army soldiers and coalition forces are inserted into various strategic locations. However, the insertion goes horribly wrong when the transport helicopters come under heavy fire. Scattered and confused, they have no choice but to continue the mission...

The game is a first person shooter and one of the most realistic military games ever. Electronic Arts took advice of several consultants from the US Military to ensure that the combat conditions and soldier movements match those in real life. The game has a huge arsenal of weapons, almost all of them being used in modern day warfare. Weapons include assault rifles, submachine guns, shotguns, sniper rifles, pistols and melee weapons. The player can also use heavy weapons such as miniguns, heavy machineguns and rocket launchers.

Medal of Honour uses an extremely enhanced version of the “Unreal” engine. It has received fairly positive reviews from critics; however the presence of the Taliban has made the game a hot topic of controversy. It has been banned in many of the US military bases, and has been criticised by various political leaders. The game’s soundtrack was released for download near the release of the game.

EA has also released a limited retail version of the game. You can also buy Medal of Honour as digital download at many online download stores.

Could have been great.

I've been playing medal of honor games since MOH:Allied assault, so when I heard that a new one was being released I was pretty excited. After about a year of play, here are my thoughts. PROS: *** Single Player The single player campaign was perhaps one of the most immersive experiences I have while playing a shooter for quite a long time. I felt like I was the character, and felt fear, anguish, and triumph as if I were actually fighting the battles myself. There is one mission in particular which evoked such strong emotions that it took me by surprise. CONS: Multiplayer Straight up, there is nothing special about the multiplayer. It's very blah. There are only a few maps, most are uninteresting. There are only 3 classes to choose from, and very little variety or customization. It doesn't handle badly, but when going up against giants such as Battlefield and Call of Duty, they really needed to step up their game. Only a handful of servers are populated at any time now. That being said, if you can find this game on the cheap, pick it up. The campaign is worth it. I've found myself going back to relive old memories from time to time. But remember, you can only be as immersed as you allow yourself to be.
